The Atlantic Cover Story: Can Starbucks Save the Middle Class? | Starbucks Newsroom

For those of you interested in what’s happening in higher education (we all should be), here is an article detailing Starbucks and Arizona State’s joint effort to offer Starbucks employees a (somewhat free) education.  Beyond this, though, the article offers fantastic insight into why students are struggling with finishing college–and it’s not what you think.  Money, while important, is only a part of the reason for students failing to complete their college degrees.  According to the article, another, very large component, is the lack of support.  Students who receive coaching, counseling, and other forms of support from a university or college are more likely to finish their degree than those who don’t.  HEOP is a case in point.  HEOP works!  And the numbers prove it.
